The 1964 Long Beach Marine Stadium
fuel ban was the result of 160+ speeds by Barry McCown's "Banzai"on
nitro methane. The city fathers feared that the boats were going
to fast and made them run pump gas which resulted in a 15-20
mph drop in speeds.
